  • Tattoo

Tattoo || Alongside my tattooed leather art, I create tattoo art for clients & have a collectors tattoo flash in the store || Over the past 2 years, I have decided to take on less commissions, so there may be a little waitlist (I am afraid that I don't take on all commission enquiries). I only take on one or two projects per month. I work towards a specific aesthetic, combining geometry with nature. The art is created with clean lines & dot shading work (nothing too dark or heavy) I work in my own style & only take on commissions which convey symbolism, geometry, sacred geometry & nature. I am afraid that I don’t tattoo onto clients. You can see lots more examples of my tattoo art in the gallery & blog sections of the website. My flash portfolio contains individual pieces, which can be collected & combined into your own unique design. The style of the art is unique to me. They range from small to large scale pieces. The store is created in collections; symbolism, geometry, nature & the universe. I am a small indi artist , so you won’t seem lots of people with the flash art. They are available as an instant download, so you can take them straight to your chosen tattooist. Load More Previous Next

  • Drypoint

Drypoint || Drypoint creates a slightly raised ragged rough edge to the lines, known as the burr. Created on copper, aluminium & plastics || I create drypoints on card, acrylic, aluminium or copper. I prefer to use aluminium. I draw into the surface using a combination of tools. My favourite is a tattoo machine. I also use a Dremel & drypoint tools with ceramic, diamond, agate & hematite stone tips. This is a less precise technique than etching, but I like to challenge myself with adding in as much detail as I can. Lines can be layered up and have a looser feel , but the aesthetic is still the same. I love the softness of a drypoint & how it contrasts with an etching. I like to create tone by leaving a little ink on the plate. The plate itself is a beautiful object, especially in aluminium. Each drypoint is created in a small edition. Load More Previous Next

  • Etching

Etching || Etching uses chemical action to produce incised lines in a copper printing plate, which then holds the applied ink and forms the image. || I make my etchings at my home studio. I try to work as 'non toxic' as possible, as my studio space is very small. I prefer to use copper plates, they are lovely to work on, but have experimented with aluminium & zinc. I like to bring some of the aesthetics & imagery from my drawing on paper onto the plate. I enjoy the technical challenge of creating precise & intricate lines, alongside dot work. My focus is about creating detail and often work using a magnifier. I use traditional etching needles & a micro needle for very small lines. Tones are created with silk, spray & traditional aquatint. Textures are created with a roulette & abrasives. Currently, I like to work on small scale pieces. I enjoy building up a collection of similar pieces. It also allows me to learn & develop, without the restriction of spending months on one piece. I like to cut my plates into shapes & plan to develop this further in the future. I generally print in Black & Sepia with the odd highlight colour, like a rich Gold or Rust. I have recently started to experiment with intaglio methods printed onto leather. Each etching is created in a small edition. Load More Previous Next

  • Drawing

Drawing || Drawings start as scribbles on paper, before being progressed & refined as digital lines in Adobe Illustrator || I generally begin by collecting reference images, notes & scribbles. In my self directed work, I try to create a series of drawings which create a collection. One example of this is my teardrop collection. I like to do variations on a theme, as I tend to evolve many different designs at the same time. One tends to lead to another. Unlike many other artists I don't work with sketch books, there is something awful about that book of blank pages. I often start a drawing with no real plan. I discard a lot of scribbles quickly before hitting on a very basic composition in the form of written notes, arrows & blocks. I then scan it in and begin to refine the composition in Adobe Illustrator. Working digitally, allows me to hide and/or add layers of detail. I can then decide on what I like & what I don't. Or save ideas for future use. Most of my drawings then becomes fully developed vector line drawings. I then decide if I want to create the art in giclee print, digital, intaglio or leather. • Leather

Leather || Decoration is applied to the surface of vegetable tanned leather with a tattoo machine & black ink || I studied Fashion, Textiles & Embroidery & have always loved working with leather. I decided I wanted to draw onto leather & then created my own unique process, which enables me to tattoo onto natural full grain (vegetable tanned) leather. I refined the process over many years. I create my art with a tattoo machine (& a single needle) It is quite a nail biting experience, as the tattoo machine is prone to spraying ink everywhere, at any given moment. And, as I keep the leather in its most natural state (with no chemicals) any ink spray won’t come off the leather! This problem, lead me to having to be very careful. I decided to embrace working in this careful & precise way. It became the catalyst to me developing my precise & intricate drawing style. The tattooed lines are further enhanced by the use of traditional & decorative leather working techniques. I prefer to use black ink, as I love the contrast with the natural hide. Commissions welcome. A selection of panels can also be found in the store. Load More Previous Next
