CUSTOM INK | Lynx Mandala

Custom Tattoo Design | 27 cm H x 14 cm W | 2019

Final Design

This design the face of a Lynx, along with mandala style geometry. I created 2 versions of this design for the client, so that it could be discussed with the tattoo artist.

The client wanted to have it quite light (without lots of black & dots) So, the main areas of black were limited to areas of black fur or features.

The design features a hint of colour, in the form of pops of blue. This was the request of the client (their second design with me) so, whilst it is a little rare for me to use colour - I was happy to do so, in this case. The colour is not lined in Black, as it is my preference to use self coloured lines only.

| Symbolism | The Lynx is a nocturnal animal that lives a solitary & private life. One of the perceived characteristics is its keen sight. At one time, people believed the lynx could see through its surroundings (trees, mountains etc) Although the lynx is now not actually known for it extraordinary sight. It has come to be symbolic of clear sightedness (both literally & metaphorically) |

The roots of its name is shared with the Celtic deity or God of Light, Lugh.

The design also has personal symbolic meaning..
