Final Design This design features shapes & symbolism related to the element of water. You will notice, waves, an icosahedron, the elemental triangle, impossible triangles, moon, flowing water, frozen water , water molecules The Sacral Chakra is the 2nd Chakra & is often depicted as a lotus flower with 6 petals. Many of of the motifs in this design feature 6 sides, points or lines. This symbol is the top right of a pentagram. The top right of the symbol relates to water. | Symbolism | The 4 elements refer to ancient beliefs inspired by natural observation of the phases of matter; with the classical elements: earth is equivalent to solid, water is equivalent to liquid, air is equivalent to gas and fire is equivalent to plasma | The Icosahedron is the fifth and final platonic solid , having 20 triangular sides. You can see a 3d version in the design. The Icosahedron is associated with the element of Water and corresponds to the Sacral Chakra. Water symbolises movement, flow, and change. It allows for freedom of expression, creativity and movement Many of of the motifs in this design feature 6 sides, points or lines. You will notice, clouds, octahedron, elemental air triangle, oxygen symbols & molecules. It is linked to the Heart Chakra; the centre for love, compassion & our spiritual nature. This chakra is where we access our healing and nurturing aspects. The Heart Chakra is the 4th Chakra & is often depicted as a lotus flower with 12 petals. It is also associated with a 6 pointed star. This symbol is the top right of a pentagram The top left of the symbol relates to water. | Symbolism | Sometimes they may include a fifth element or quintessence (after "quint" meaning "fifth") called Aether, which describes that which was beyond the material world | The third of the platonic solids is the octahedron having 8 triangular sides. It symbolises the element of air. Resting on a point, it signifies the careful balance of multiple forces. The shape of the Octahedron symbolises reflection, compassion and healing. WORLD LYMPHOMA AWARENESS DAY | 2021 Apologies for the long post but it seems an appropriate time to share something.  This post is not art related , but please take the time to read ... I don’t tend to share anything personal, but this is rather close to my heart. I am currently 2 years post treatment from Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL) & FL⁠ (Follicular Lymphoma) September is Blood Cancer Awareness month.⁠ ⁠ Today is World Lymphoma Awareness Day (WLAD) It is a day dedicated to raising awareness of Lymphoma. ⁠ Lymphoma is a type of blood cancer that develops when white blood cells called lymphocytes grow out of control.⁠ Around the world, more than 735,000 people are diagnosed with Lymphoma. The Stats | Every 14 mins someone is diagnosed with a Blood Cancer. More than 40,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with blood cancer every year. It’s the UK’s third biggest cause of cancer deaths and kills more people than either breast or prostate cancers | | Every 27 minutes someone is diagnosed with Lymphoma. There are more than 30 types of lymphoma | | 39% of UK adults had at least one symptom that could have been blood cancer in the last year,  but didn’t see a doctor | Blood cancer is the UK’s third biggest cancer killer, and every year about 15,000 people die of it. Overall, the five-year survival rate for blood cancer is 70%. That means someone diagnosed with blood cancer is only 70% as likely to be alive in five years as someone their age who doesn’t have cancer. But while 70% is an overall average for all types of blood cancer, different types have very different survival rates. The Symptoms The signs and symptoms of lymphoma can often be mistaken for other less serious illnesses, like the flu or Covid (& other infections) This is because as lymphomas progress, the body loses its ability to fight infection. Many patients delay going to the doctor because they do not realise they have cancer.⁠ It is important to go to the doctors with any concerns. The most common symptom is painless swelling in a lymph node. Phi appears in: Nature, The proportions of the human body & many other animals, Plants, DNA, The solar system, Art and architecture, Music, Spiritual Aspects, Theology & The Bible. | Cosmic 7 | Planets Mandala | The design features the planets (including the sun & moon) & their move around the sun, set inside a mandala. Clockwise - Mercury (middle) Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto (Ceres, Eris, Little Pluto, Haumea & Makemere >>>>>> Symbolism | The order of the planets in the solar system, starting nearest the sun and working outward is the following: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune. The inner four planets closest to the sun — Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars — are often called the "terrestrial planets”. It contains 12 faces, 20 vertices and 30 edges, being the closest of the Platonic Solids to mimic the shape of the sphere. All my work is packed with symbolism, whether it be hidden or in a more obvious form. Here is one that you will find in my art. | HONEYSUCKLE | • Honeysuckle is the birth flower for the month of June. • There are approximately 180 species of shrubs and vines known as honeysuckle. • The honeysuckle flower has had many different meanings throughout history, today, it is predominantly viewed as a symbol of happiness & affection. • Honeysuckle flowers were first recognised by the Druids, with the Ogham, an ancient Celtic alphabet, carved into stones. It represented following your own path or bringing joy and happiness to life. • The Scottish believe growing honeysuckle brings good luck and protects your home from evil. • In French culture, the honeysuckle flower stood for things like fidelity, love, devotion, and spiritual vision. It was included as a major symbol in the French book “Le Langage des Fleurs,” For the French, honeysuckle represented love, fidelity, and devotion. • Honeysuckle flowers are often used as remedies for coughs and colds, in modern day. They are a natural antibiotic. • In ancient China, the honeysuckle was known as a cooling herb with the ability to remove toxins from the body and promote positive emotions. It is widely revered as a cure-all. • Ancient texts mention it has special healing qualities when it comes to nostalgia and home sickness. Honeysuckle is used as a medicinal plant to treat a wide range of ailments, including: • Digestive disorders • Respiratory disorders, such as colds, flu, and pneumonia • Swelling of the brain • Headaches • Diabetes • Urinary Tract Disorders • Rheumatoid Arthritis Historically, honeysuckle has also been used to treat snakebites, arthritis, skin diseases, sores, rashes, and tumours. Because the honeysuckle vine is notoriously hardy and challenging to kill once established, it can often be used to symbolise devotion and everlasting bonds. Their symbolic meaning also derives from their sweet aroma, representing attracting sweetness & affection in all aspects of life. The sweet scent of honeysuckle blooms attracts all sorts of pollinators, particularly during the night. Hummingbirds and other pollinators “suckle” at the sweet blossoms of the plant, hoping to extract some nectar. These feature Botanical inspired motifs. | JAPAN WAVES | 2016 | | Half Sleeve Custom Tattoo Design | Final Design This design was an open brief. The client preferred the shading to be minimal, & the design not to be too dense or heavy. It featured Water (waves) Camellia Flowers, Asanoha Patterns, Cherry Blossom, Clouds & an open Linking circle background. The design wrapped around the arm, and the join included stylised simple wave patterns || Symbolism || The Asanoha pattern is one of the most popular traditional patterns often seen on Japanese kimono. Asanoha means: Asa = hemp: no = of: ha = leaf. The regular geometric pattern, though abstract, represents overlapping hemp leaves. These feature Botanical inspired motifs. | VENUS & TAURUS DANCE | 2015 | | Full Sleeve Custom Tattoo Design | Final Design This design was an open brief. It was for mostly based on the astrological sign of Taurus. Taurus is associated with the earth element, the planet Venus & Copper. All of which are represented within the design. One of the main features within the design is the representation of the 'Pentagram of Venus' It takes Venus almost 584 days to reappear in the same spot in the sky as observed from earth. There is a highly noticeable rhythm in the motion of Venus. | Symbolism | After eight years, it returns to the same place & on about the same date. (13 Venusian orbits (8 x 224.8 days) very nearly equals eight Earth years) The tips of the five loops at the centre of the figure have the same geometric relationship to one another as the pentagram. | || Symbolism | The pentagram is a 5 pointed star that has been seen and used in dozens of various cultures and religions, from Paganism to Christianity, all throughout history. It is and has been a significant symbol throughout the ages and has represented ideas such as perfection, the symbol of the human being with arms & legs outstretched, health, good fortune, protection, the five wounds of Christ, the four elements plus spirit, and it contains the golden ratio || The design also features, Octagon & Octagram (to represent 8) planetary orbits & tracks, asteroid belt, the chakras, constellation, copper & earth symbols. Pops of Red are scattered throughout the design.
