| Mountain Lynx | | Large Custom Tattoo Design | This design was for the upper arm. It features personal symbolism, based around the Lynx. The design features mountains & moons. || SYMBOLISM || The word for Lynx comes from a term meaning light and Lucina or Luna. Ice & Snowflakes. Inspiration is taken from the traditional jewellery of the Sàmi people. The design sits on the front of the upper arm. | SYMBOLISM | Lynx is the name of a constellation in the northern sky, defined by Johannes Hevelius in 1687. The name is said to have been chosen because the stars which make up the constellation are so faint that only those with the eyesight of the lynx can perceive them. The Lynx  is considered an elusive and mysterious creature, known in some Native American traditions as a 'keeper of secrets. It is also believed to have supernatural eyesight, capable of seeing even through solid objects. The lynx, has a prominent role in Greek, Norse, and North American mythology. | COSMIC CRANE | | Large Custom Tattoo Design | This main features of this design is the Crane. The Bottom Crane is holding a rock (This holds symbolic meaning for the client) It features earth and water elements (Reeds Icosahedron _ Waves) Circles feature throughout the design. The top and the bottom sections have a concentric circle base. Circles link and flow throughout the design, which represents 'protection, connection & new life'. A rotating water circle flows around the bottom crane and leads into a Tree Of Life symbol (which features the corresponding planetary symbols) Cranes symbolise longevity, happiness, and peace. In some belief systems, the crane is associated with spirituality, representing the connection between heaven and earth. It is a large design. It has been designed to fit to a whole leg. Measurements have been taken from the client. The design Wraps and joins around the leg. It is also sectioned so that the design can be completed in separate pieces. This is the middle section. This images illustrates how the design joins up. It features a collection of cranes, dancing. Linking Circles hold the platonic solids. The Circular repeat pattern is based on the Flower Of Life (Sacred Geometry) | SYMBOLISM | Throughout Asia, the crane is a symbol of happiness and eternal youth. In Japan, the crane is one of the mystical or holy creatures (others include the dragon and the tortoise) and symbolises good fortune and longevity because of its fabled life span of a thousand years. A shen ring is a circle with a line at a tangent to it. The word ‘shen' in ancient Egyptian means ‘encircle’ & therefore linked to eternity. The shen ring represents eternal protection. | DHARMA DEWDROP | | Small Custom Tattoo Design | Final Design This design features a Dharma Wheel, set inside a dewdrop. It is a small design ( Height - 10 cm ) So, it contains minimal shading & clean lines. | SYMBOLISM | The circle of the wheel, represents the perfection of the dharma, the Buddha's teaching. The rim of the wheel represents meditative concentration and mindfulness, which holds the practice together. The hub represents moral discipline. This is because they begin life as grubs underground before emerging as adult beetles. The main botanical is the honeysuckle • Honeysuckle is the birth flower for the month of June. • There are approximately 180 species of shrubs and vines known as honeysuckle. • The honeysuckle flower has had many different meanings throughout history, today, it is predominantly viewed as a symbol of happiness & affection. | GEOMETRY | DIGITAL DOODLES | I often play around with shapes & create variations of them before settling on one for use in my art Here are a few that I have created over the past few months, each based on a specific geometric shape or symbol. I tend to post them as I do them on Instagram under the name @punctured_artefact Inspired by | The Dodecahedron | || Dodecahedron || is the fourth in the series of the five Platonic Solid shapes. It contains 12 faces, 20 vertices and 30 edges, being the closest of the Platonic Solids to mimic the shape of the sphere. Plato described the Dodecahedron as the shape, "... god used for arranging the constellations on the whole heaven”. Inspired by | The Octagon | || Octagon || The symbolic meaning of octagon deals with: Regeneration, Totality, Infinity, Rebirth, Transition Inspired by | The Mandala | || Mandala || (Sanskrit: 'circle') is a spiritual and ritual symbol, representing the Universe. In common use, mandala has become a generic term for any plan, chart or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically. Inspired by | The Torus | || Torus || The word “torus” comes from the Latin word meaning swelling. In sacred geometry it is the first shape to emerge from the Genesis Pattern. In Mathematics, a torus is a doughnut-shaped object such as an O ring. It is a surface of an object formed by revolving a circle in three-dimensional space about an axis that lies in the same plane as the circle. Inspired by | The Seed Of Life | || Seed Of Life || is a universal symbol of creation. The Seed of Life is formed from a relationship of 6 circles around one. Inspired by | The Metatron's Cube | || Metatron's Cube || is a name for a geometric figure composed of 13 equal circles with lines from the center of each circle extending out to the centers of the other 12 circles Metatron's cube contains every shape that exists within the universe. Those shapes are the building blocks of all physical matter, which are known as Platonic solids. The shapes represent the patterns that make up everything that exists. Inspired by | The Vesica Piscis | || Vesica Piscis || The Vesica Piscis a mathematical shape formed by the intersection of two disks with the same radius, intersecting in such a way that the centre of each disk lies on the perimeter of the other Inspired by | The Tetrahedron | || Tetrahedron || The first of the platonic solids is the tetrahedron having 4 triangular sides. The Tetrahedron represents the element of Fire and is linked to the Solar Plexus; the centre for personal power and acceptance. It creates the natural balance between the physical and spiritual. Each side sits flat, no matter how it is turned, making it the perfect symbol for balance and stability.
