Hello, welcome to the world of Punctured Artefact, the studio of artist & printmaker
Dionne Marshall.
I enjoy the technical challenge of achieving a high level of detail & complexity in my art practises. Creating equilibrium & balance within each piece is important. Lines & patterns work in harmony alongside delicate tones & dot work.
Aesthetic
I hold a fascination with (sacred) geometry, symbolism, symmetry, alchemy & nature & combine all themes within my work.
Natural & Geometric Synthesis: The aesthetic combines intricate natural forms such as beetles & moths with mathematical & geometric structures like the Platonic solids.
Precision &Texture: Characterised by "precise clean lines" and intricate "dot-work," a technique used to create depth, shading, and texture.
Symbolism and "Sacred" Geometry: The pieces often incorporate symbolic elements, such as the Ouroboros, sun and moon motifs. The symbolism can be hidden or revealed.
Materiality and Craft: The aesthetic is deeply rooted in the physical processes, particularly etching on copper plates, where "deeply bitten lines" and chemical action create a tactile quality that transitions into my other works like custom leather and tattoos.

Print Practise
My focus is on creating highly detailed & precise etchings with tonal experiments & embossed elements. Often on a small scale & with hand cut plates.
I have a passion for Original Prints & Intaglio Printmaking methods.
My print practise focuses on creating copperplate etchings, each individually hand-pulled from an intaglio printing press onto handmade archival paper. These pieces often combine various traditional and experimental techniques, including aquatint, spit-bite, drypoint, embossing, and experimental resists.
I create small Limited & Variable Editions, more often than not, in Black.

Tattoo
My work spans diverse mediums including tattoo design, printmaking, leatherwork, and illustration.
My aesthetic of precise strong lines & intricate fine dot-work also transitions into my other works.
Tattooed Leather Art: Designs are tattooed onto vegetable tanned leather panels with a single tattoo needle.
Tattoo Design: I only offer a small amount of commission spots each year, due to printmaking being my priority practise.
