TITLE: Germinate (Black)
METHOD: Copperplate etching with aquatint spitbite & drypoint

PAPER: Fabriano Rosapina, Soft White with a hint of Blush
INK: Strong & Soft Black Etching Ink.
MOUNT: Size: 7”x 9” (Aperture 5 x 7”) Larson Juhl 1.4mm conservation mount & backing board in warm off white (vanilla) with white core (Presented in a protective cellophane bag)
The piece features a stylised botanical design in our signature drawing style (a mix of geometry & organic lines, with fine lines and micro dots)
The etching is a symmetrical design, featuring poppies with gem inspired geometry. The spit bite method adds soft tones to the print (with a watercolour or graphite effect) The print has strong lines and angles alongside soft organic sketches.
This piece is printed using a copper etching plate.
Intaglio etching is a labour intensive printmaking technique that involves incising the lines & dots onto a copper plate, with a sharp point. Tone is created though the Aquatint & Aquatint spit bite method.
Aquatint is a spray of tiny acrylic dots. When the plate is immersed in Ferric Chloride it will bite into the metal around the acrylic dots or into the exposed drawn lines.
The plate is then inked with etching ink. The ink sits in the grooves, whilst the surface ink is wiped off. The ink is then drawn from the incised lines, onto dampened paper, using an etching press.
Each print takes a long time to produce.
These highly detailed, intricate plates ensure each print is unique, making every piece a true one-of-a-kind etching.
I print in small editions, keeping the work precious and limited.
Please Note - Each print may vary slightly, as they are individually printed by hand.
I generally have a proportion of the edition already printed.
Please be aware that the pieces may be printed to order. It may take up to two weeks to fulfil your order (accounting for the drying time) In which case, you will be informed.

If you would like to return something, I have a 7 day return policy (from receipt of the art) The art must be in its original protective cellophane bag. And show no signs of opening or marks.
