EDITION SIZE : VE 1/15.

ART (PLATE SIZE): 2cm & 3cm.

PAPER: Hahnemuhle Etching, Natural. 9 x 14cm. 4 deckle edges.

INK: Strong & Soft Black Etching Ink.

WATERCOLOUR: Each variable print has a different range of Blues, Green & Gold. This print has indigo & blues.

MOUNT: None. This print would look great with the deckle edges on show. A mount can be supplied upon request.

The piece features stylised moth & moons in our signature drawing style (a mix of geometry & organic lines, with fine lines and micro dots)
This piece is printed using 3 hand cut copper etching plates.

Intaglio etching is a labour intensive printmaking technique that involves incising the lines & dots onto a copper plate, with a sharp point. It is then etched in Ferric Chloride, which bites the design into the copper plate. This was repeated 3 times on this plate. Along with 3 aquatint sprays (which create a tooth within the lines)

The plate is then inked with etching ink. The ink sits in the grooves, whilst the surface ink is wiped off. The ink is then drawn from the incised lines, onto dampened paper, using an etching press.

The intaglio print has been printed in Black ink. It hand embellished with watercolour washes & 2 additional moons have been added. Some of the prints have gold watercolour. Each print is unique, making every piece a true one-of-a-kind etching.

I print in small editions, keeping the work precious and limited.
