This design features a cicada, with wings close to the body. The geometric background is inspired by sacred geometry & New Orleans ironwork. The flower is based on the hydrangea.
The cicada is symbolic of self-expression, longevity, renewal (or rebirth) & love. Socrates teels a story that cicadas were once human beings that lost interest in everything but music when the Muses introduced them to mankind. They forgot to eat and drink, and began to waste away. The Muses saved their lives & rewarded them for devotion, by turning them into cicadas.
