All my work is packed with symbolism, whether it be hidden or in a more obvious form.

Here is one that you will find in my art.

| ASANOHA |

• The Asanoha pattern is one of the most popular traditional patterns often seen on Japanese kimono.  Asanoha means: Asa = hemp: no = of: ha = leaf. The regular geometric pattern, though abstract, represents overlapping hemp leaves.

• Hemp grows straight and fast, up to the sky. And thus can represent  good health, vigor, resistance or resilience, and then, by extension prosperity.

• In Japan, this pattern was often used on babies' and children's kimonos with the hope that they would grow up big and strong.

Since the Heian era, this hexagonal geometric pattern has been used as decoration for statues of Buddha.

Hemp leaves grow so quickly that it reaches a height of 4m in a mere 4 month
 .
