|| Adventures In Printmaking || ⁠ Mini Beetle Copper Etching | 5.5cm x 10 cm | Process Video || This 1 minute video shows the full process from design to print, without the messy etching chemicals || ⁠ • Height 10 cm x 5.5 cm width ⁠ • Hand Cut Copper Etching.⁠ 1 minute | Full Process Video | Mini Beetle Etching | Goliath Beetle | Punctured Artefact Prints • I recently had the opportunity to do a quick test print on a heavier press recently. ⁠ • There are so many variables in print making, it's an alchemical process! ⁠ ⁠ • Press pressure, wetness & variety of paper, ink variety, wiping technique... the list goes on.⁠ ⁠ Process;⁠ ⁠ 1. Design⁠ 2. Draw the lines onto plate⁠ 3. Etch the lines in stages (timing each weight of line)⁠ 4. Add more drawing details⁠ 5. Etch the details in stages ( blocking out the areas you don’t want etched in colour pen)⁠ 6. Cut the plate out⁠ 7. File & finish the plate⁠ 8. Clean the plate⁠ 9. Prepare the ink, paper & etching press⁠ 10. Print!⁠ Next Steps • With a little extra pressure & a bit more polishing, it has stared to come up quite well. Not perfect but it is nearly there.⁠ ⁠ • Lesson learnt - Don’t etch the edge (cutting line) It has created a ‘ tooth' and it is now impossible to get the black ink out of the edge, despite how much I file the edges. Custom Tattoo Design | Araucaria Pine | 37 cm Width | Final Design The design is semi symmetrical. It sits on the outer arm, running across into the chest & back. The main feature is a Brazilian pine tree & soaring falcon. The design also features, sacred geometry, such as the flower of life , which fades out over the chest & back. A sunflower sits at the top of the design and in a more geometric style at the bottom. | Tree | The Paraná pine, Brazilian pine or candelabra tree is a critically endangered species in the conifer. | LEATHER ART | Tree Of Life | Archive | 2016 | This is a piece which I didn’t get around to sharing on social media, and thought I would do it this week. It was one of two commissions for a client. The art is tattooed by a tattoo machine & black ink, onto ethically sourced leather. Before texture & depth is added through tooling. It combines geometry, the platonic solids & organic botanical motifs. Custom Tattoo Design | 4 Elements | Elemental Pentagram This blog post features a number of designs, created for one client , over a number of years. The design is spilt into pieces. Each piece represents one of the elements. When seen as a whole design, it creates the points of a pentagram. Each piece is created in the same style, so that it feels part of one whole design. Focusing on geometry & symbolism. Each piece has the same overall silhouette. Each a mirror image of the other. The leg designs are scaled a little larger than the arm designs. Custom Tattoo Design | Water | Height 26 cm Final Design This design features shapes & symbolism related to the element of Water. The design features waves, an icosahedron, the elemental triangle, impossible triangles, moon, flowing water, frozen water & water molecules The Sacral Chakra is the 2nd Chakra & is often depicted as a lotus flower with 6 petals. Many of of the motifs in this design feature 6 sides, points or lines. This symbol is the top right of a pentagram. A pentagram, a five sided star, often within a circle, is one of the oldest markings known to humankind. Dating back to Europe as far as 8000 years ago, the pentagram is a symbol fraught with mystery, intrigue, and meaning. The pentagram is the simplest regular star polygon.
