| 2014 | Skeleton Dance |
Just finished the latest piece , working title of Skeleton dance.
Here’s the finished item, waiting for the frame & a look at the techniques used to create it
This piece features…. a dancing skeleton , spiral of triangles, collection of peonies and foliage

Stage 1. Design outline. Stage 2. Rough sketch of line-work. Stage 3. Transfer by hand onto leather

Stage 4. Ink the outline with 1 needle & favourite red tattoo machine!

Stage 5. Line-work to create depth

Stage 6 . Leather-working techniques; tooling the lines to add depth, embossing

Stage 7: Press into the leather

Stage 8: Raise the skeleton up from the surface using the repousse technique

Stage 9: hand-make the shadow box frames from reclaimed wood & paint with farrow & ball heritage paint

Stage 10: Photo! All done, ready to frame and put up on the web!

All in all, quite a few techniques… all of which are pretty detailed & labour intensive!
